About Graham
I have been fascinated by astrology since I was a teenager in the late 1970s, and have been a professional astrologer since 1995.
I am the author of 'Astrology, A Beginner's Guide', published by Hodder Headline, and have taught and lectured in astrology both in the UK and Europe since 2000. I also help run the Aquarius Severn Astrology Society based in Cheltenham.
In 2021 I was nominated for the Charles Harvey Award for Exceptional Service to Astrology by the UK Astrological Association.

My introduction to astrology
I was first 'caught' by astrology in 1979 when I was 17 and still at school. I learnt to cast my own natal horoscope (or 'birthchart') and recognised myself in its symbols and their interpretations, which I found in astrology books. I also discovered a larger, more inspiring sense of who I was, and of what I could become. Instead of seeing myself as rather shy, diffident teenager, I realised that I was a unique expression of archetypal patterns common to all human beings. Doing the same for family and friends gave me an explanation for their sometimes bewildering individual behaviour and attitudes. As I explored this new-found passion further, I realised that these archetypal energies manifest themselves in every area of life, from human relationships to the rise and fall of stockmarkets and civilisations.
Planetary Profiles
In 1984 I embarked on a project, the aim of which was to summarise everything I knew about natal astrology, from my reading, from personal experience, observation and from 'doing' other people's birthcharts. I started to write a database of interpretations for each combination of sign, house and planet, a project that was to take a further eight or so years to complete, and which forms the basis, updated over the years, of the Planetary Profiles - individual printed personality profiles based on your birthchart, and which are available from my www.livingastrology.com website. Embarking on this project was very much part of my own healing at the time, and gave me a sense of achievement that I had hitherto missed out on.
The Aquarius Severn Astrology Society
Since the early 1990s I have helped run the Aquarius Severn Astrology Society, based in my home town of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (UK). It has hosted fortnightly talks and twice-yearly workshops by well-known and local astrologers since 1981, and since the early part of the Covid pandemic, has gone global via Zoom.
Since this time too I have built up an astrology practice, explaining to clients what their birthchart means and what astrological energies are currently operating in their lives.

In 1995 I successfully completed a practitioner course in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, taught by Sarah Frosell and Diana Beaver. NLP encompasses a powerful set of mental and communication techniques to utilise the full potential of the brain, which have informed my life, my work with clients and my writing ever since.
Astrology, A Beginner's Guide
In 1997 I was asked to write an introduction to astrology for Hodder Headline, called 'Astrology, A Beginner's Guide'. My aim in writing it was to make the subject as accessible as possible, and to encourage the reader to begin a journey that can bring great insight and richness to everyday life. It is available from Amazon and other bookshops, and signed copies are available from me direct.
Teaching
I have taught astrology to beginners for the Aquarius Severn Astrology Society since 2000, and in 2002 and 2003 lectured on the subject to passengers on mind-body-spirit cruises in the Mediterranean.
Astrology is such a large subject that there is always something new to learn. Because of my involvement with Aquarius Severn I have been to many superb talks and workshops, and whenever possible I attend conferences, workshops and lectures further afield, for example with the wonderful Company of Astrologers, run by Geoffrey Cornelius and Maggie Hyde, and the UK Astrological Association.
