So Much More than Star Signs |

I first discovered astrology when I was 18 and still as school. It was so much more interesting than my geography 'A'-level, which often had me comatose. I read all I could about astrology and learnt to cast the birthcharts of my friends and family. This was before astrological software became available in the mid 1980s, and so involved detailed calculations using logarithm tables and looking up the positions of the planets in an ephemeris, a heavy book rather like a cosmic railway timetable.
'Real' astrology, which has so much more to it than the popular 'star sign' columns you see in newspapers, hooked me because it seemed to provide an explanation as to why the people I knew well thought and behaved so differently to me. An outspoken friend for example, always certain of his beliefs and opinions, and often eager to engage in vigorous debate, was born whilst the warlike planet Mars was in Sagittarius, the sign of the zodiac associated with truth-seeking, philosophy and religion. Another friend was born with the Moon, which symbolises amongst other things one's mother and family, in powerful Scorpio, and in a difficult angular relationship to Uranus, planet of shock and rebellion. No wonder he had such an odd and often traumatic relationship with his family.
Casting the birthcharts of my own family members led me to understand our similarities and differences, and why we occasionally drove each other crazy.
Over the years, I have cast hundreds of birthcharts for clients and have seen how an astrological reading enables them to step back and appreciate the bigger picture, not only of themselves and their relationships, but also of the journey of their lives and the choices they have made along the way. For me, astrology is a language of symbols which, once learnt, enables one to appreciate the dynamics beneath the surface of life.

How do I find out my Moon sign?To find out your Moon sign, use the widget on the right.
Enter your year, month, day, hour and minute of birth (make a rough guess if you don't know your time of birth - though since the Moon changes sign every 2.5 days you may need to read the next sign's details as well. Once the birthchart displays, click on the Moon glyph (the yellow crescent moon). At the top of the information box that pops up it will give the sign the Moon was in, together with its position in zodiacal degrees and its house. Ignore the interpretative text, especially the secion headed Moon Dominant (if it shows)! |
